We left Chincoteague Island at 8am - in the rain. The rain stayed with us for most of the way up the peninsula - but the sun was out by the time we crossed the Bay Bridge. Get to add another couple states to my map: Maryland and Delaware. Yay!
Pulled in to our campground about 1:30, Tom threw some burgers on the grill, we wolfed lunch and went to a 4:00 orientation meeting about the park and DC. Ran back home, grabbed snacks and jackets, and headed out for a DC at Night tour.
Got to see EVERYTHING! Capitol, White House, every memorial and monument you can think of, Tidal Pool, Reflecting Pond, so many buildings! The tour started in daylight hours - and then as night descended, the lights came on and it was incredible. My Ipad camera just couldn't capture the sights at night like I wanted it to - but they're in my head.
And we only lost Randy and Suzanne once - had to hold the bus and talk them back to us by cell phone. What did we ever do before phones????
